GIB DAY #LDN24
GFIA was proud to be represented at the Fund’s Breakfast organized by Gibraltar Finance. Chairman Jonathan Garcia, Jay Gomez, Derek Baglietto, Colin Bensadon and Faith Howe attended on behalf of GFIA, and marketing material was available to all attendees. The event was opened by the Hon. Nigel Feetham KC MP, and the Minister took the opportunity to showcase Gibraltar's impressive achievement of ranking 2nd globally for crypto fund domiciles in the recent PwC report. The Minister then posed a critical question for the future: “What does Gibraltar need to do to take the number one spot?” Leading us to a dynamic and thoughtful panel discussion....
The panel discussion, moderated by Alexander Royle of Galaxy.io, featured industry leaders Amarjit Singh 💙 (EY), Dr. Monica Sah (Clifford Chance), Stephen McConville (Hedgehog Invest), and Ian Taylor (KPMG & Crypto UK).
The panel discussed the growing impact of tokenization, the operational challenges the industry faces, and how Gibraltar can further enhance its ecosystem to attract more businesses and investors. Amarjit Singh commended Gibraltar’s strong regulatory framework and the core principles that distinguish it from other jurisdictions. Alex Royle highlighted the global challenge of building public trust while balancing innovation with international regulatory standards.
Jay Gomez, ex-Chairman and current committee member of GFIA, shared valuable insights, drawing from his extensive expertise in financial services. He emphasized Gibraltar’s agility and speed to market—key advantages for businesses operating in the jurisdiction, particularly when developing new products related to tokenization.
Overall, the panel provided thought-provoking insights that will guide Gibraltar’s next steps as it continues to lead in innovation, especially in the exciting field of tokenization.
